the dissertation is a big deal. it's not only so long--covering not just the 30 pages of so-so draft that i have now that isn't really even draftlike yet--but actually over or close to 200 pages by the time it's done of stuff that's sort of perfect, or as good as it gets.
it's also a big deal in terms of my life. it gets me to the next stage, it gets me where i need to go. if i take my dissertation seriously, i take myself seriously, i take like seriously, i can get to the next stage so there.
... so there i can take that step to take it all seriously every day.
