possible bio for the Dickinson promo stuff
Susannah Bartlow, M.A., Director of the new Women's Center, returns to her native Pennsylvania from the Gender Institute at the University at Buffalo, where she organized the 2008 Gender Across Borders conference, themed “Research Transformations”; supported faculty research; developed student programs; and collaborated to bring the International Women’s Film Festival to downtown Buffalo. These activities cemented her commitment to fostering engaged, creative, and open conversation around issues of women and gender. She is excited to build upon student and faculty involvement to expand Dickinson’s Women’s Center as an interdisciplinary resource for students, faculty, and staff. This fall, Susannah will defend “’Vulnerability As Armor’”, a UB English Department dissertation exploring the relationship between physical and spiritual healing and pragmatic activism in the novels and poems of Toni Cade Bambara, Alice Walker, and Audre Lorde.
