The thing about Alice Walker today is that she's driving me crazy with her arrogance. And I'm curious in this essay on Zora Neale Hurston why she keeps coming back to her daughter. I understand the generational connections and the need to assist or develop a sense of relatedness, but it actually sounds more to me like a record of guilt, like she feels guilty that she's left her daughter behind so she chose to incorporate her into this document. It's so interesting.
