i met with Ann today about my dissertation. it was strange--normally her advice is really constructive and helpful, but today i felt like we were talking at cross-purposes. now she gave me homework that i don't think is constructive.
i have a feeling that i might actually be in a phase when i need to try to develop more independently, rather than getting lots of advice from ann about strategies and techniques. i have homework that features general assignments about Walker and what she's doing with the context of feminism and black civil rights. but i actually don't care about any of that context and i don't think i can say that much about it. in other words, i am being rebellious again and it stresses me out. it makes sense to me that this is the next step. it just is incredibly annoying that i can't just work slowly and get stuff done.
we are trying to work me through this process of creating lots of blah blah empty sentences to being able to find and see nuggets and move forward. but, nothing.
